Transformers Studio Series 86 Voyager Class Thundercracker
To save space for the packaging, the tips of Thundercracker’s wings are packed separately and you will have to attached them yourself.
Holding himself in high regard, Thundercracker has nothing but contempt for any Transformer that cannot fly. Capable of generating loud sonic booms to stun any opponents, Thundercracker harasses those beneath him out of pure spite. His greatest weakness is that he is not fully committed to the Decepticon cause. This doubt affects his effectiveness when in combat.
For a more vintage look, you can opt to leave the smaller wings on his legs instead of attaching them to the bigger wings in robot mode.
Personally, I opt to place these on the back of the wings to keep them out of sight and maintain the clean animation look for the legs.
Interestingly, Thundercracker was apparently released with different facial expressions? The one I got is the “open mouth” look. Supposedly there are smiling and frowning faced variants out there.
Thundercracker comes with his iconic Incendiary Guns (Null Ray Guns for Starscream).
Engineering-wise, they really improved here by making the Seeker mold now have a waist joint. This was noticeably absent on the Earthrise versions.
Personally, my favorite improvement to the Seeker mold has got to be the lack of visible gaps on the chest panels. Those gaps on the Earthrise molds REALLY bothered me A LOT!
Deployable front landing gear.
Same as usual, Thundercracker’s Incendiary Guns can be mounted underneath the jet mode’s wings.
Transparent canopy, which can be opened up.
Overall, a big improvement!! This release is about as close to being Masterpiece level without being actually called a Masterpiece. The overall design and look are just perfect! Like the character just stepped out of the screen! The additions of a working waist joint as well as the jet mode now having an opening c0ckpit canopy just make this whole thing be so much better than any of the older CHUGs-scale releases.
I guess I’m going to have to get the Seekers all over again…
