Transformers X G.i. Joe Megatron H.I.S.S. Tank & Baroness
The box can be slid apart after you cut the tape. You can also just open from the side and extract the core brown box out.
Baroness is tucked underneath Megatron’s tray.
I mainly got this set just to complete the retro carded 3.75” figures. I will leave Baroness sealed though, since that’s how I plan on collecting the retro sub-line.
The Baroness comes with her sniper rifle.
She also comes with her cute little Cobra logo-shaped backpack.
Megatron
Leader of the Decepticons, Megatron’s sole ambition is to rule the cosmos through sheer might and tyranny. Strong, intelligent and nearly unstoppable, Megatron has no known weaknesses.
This set marks the 10th release in the Transformers “Collaborative” line (it’s technically a crossover with G.i. Joe).
I really love the headsculpt on this thing, it sure beats the Earthrise head design.
Be sure to deploy these heels on Megatron, they really help balance the figure out.
Man, that is a huge backpack… It’s a shame they couldn’t make it fold down to minimize it.
Sigh… talk about hollow… This figure is one big hollow piece. Sad.
Lol… that tow hook for the tank mode looks really weird sticking out in Meg’s belly. I wish they made this collapsible.
Megatron stands roughly 10.5 inches tall (12 inches if you maximize the HISS Tank cannons).
Because this figure is designed to be big in order to ride 3.75” figures, H.I.S.S. Tank Megs is really big.
I love the concept of adding missile pods on Megatron’s hips.
He comes with his iconic Fusion Cannon.
Unfortunately, due to the design for the cannon to be mountable on both modes, the Fusion Cannon rear section has been severely truncated. I really wish they didn’t do that. This set would’ve looked more intense if he had a properly scaled Fusion Cannon on him.
The twin artillery guns up top do make Megatron look more imposing.
Lastly, the tank’s rear plate becomes Megatron’s shield in robot mode.
Tow hook.
Opening canopy.
Some really good tooling inside the c0ckpit.
Foot pegs for 3.75” figures.
Gunner’s seat, now with Fusion Cannon!!
I really love the look of the tank mode, it looks perfect! I also really love the tampographs used for decals instead of stickers.
Overall, it’s a pretty good set. I love the H.I.S.S. tank mode and its details and I love getting the retro carded Baroness for my collection. But I do feel like Hasbro cheaped out on the materials and build (lots of hollow sections on Megatron). I also didn’t like the crazy huge backpack on Megatron and I feel it’s something that should’ve been easily addressed in the design.
I wonder if Hasbro will release a proper Optimus Prime to match up to this? We’re already getting Bumblebee as a Joe AWE Striker soon.
