Transformers X-Transbots MM-VII Hatch 2019 Reissue Toon version (Masterpiece Tailgate)

The boxes of Boost and Hatch can combine into one.

Same as with Boost, his headlights can be raised up.

Since this is a Third Party, non-official item, it’s best to get some stickers from Reprolabels/Toyhax.com to make this guy more “toon-accurate”.

To apply, I find the best way to stick the stickers on is to use the tip of a blade, this way you have more control over the application, as compared to using just your fingers. You can also use the blade to help gently peel off a corner of the sticker in case you didn’t center it right and need to re-apply.

Tailgate was hardly seen in the G1 cartoons, appearing only in ONE episode (Five Faces of Darkness) where he, along with other fellow minibots, are quickly dispatched by Trypticon on his way to Autobot Headquarters. His bio notes that he’s still confused about the vehicles on Earth not being sentient machines, and he hopes to one day “liberate” them from their human oppressors.

Tailgate became more popular when he became one of the main characters in IDW Comic’s More Than Meets the Eye series.

Hatch stands roughly 5 inches and weighs 97 Grams.

He comes with optional G1 toy chest plate and eyes.

Same as with Boost, his forearms show exposed screws on top. It’s just so bad to look at.

He comes with his pistol.

Comparison with XTB Boost

Comparison with Takara Masterpieces.

Overall, same as with Boost (Windcharger), there’s only one of this guy out there for Masterpiece displays (no other toy company has made a MP Tailgate), which doesn’t really leave much in terms of options. The same problems on Boost apply here, namely, the difficult transformation, and the loose, floppy joints. The good news is that, like Boost, the paint and sculpt are good, so they do work well when posed next to the MP Autobots.
