Transformers X-Transbots MX-IX Paean (Masterpiece Hoist)
Since this is a Third Party, non-official item, it’s best to get some stickers from Reprolabels/Toyhax.com to make this guy more “toon-accurate”.
To apply, I find the best way to stick the stickers on is to use the tip of a blade, this way you have more control over the application, as compared to using just your fingers. You can also use the blade to help gently peel off a corner of the sticker in case you didn’t center it right and need to re-apply.
lol… yeah, same with Aegis (Trailbreaker), you can still make out his face through the windshield.
The tires are made of rubbery material, hopefully, they won’t turn sticky over time.
The toy has a (integrated?) wheel-lift type of towing mechanism, I’m not sure if this is how it was in the cartoon, but the pallet can be split wider so it can accommodate various-sized cars.
There are also various attachments for the vehicle mode, all based on Hoist’s various crane appearances in the series. This capture claw appeared in the episode “Auto Berserk”.
The crane claw has spring joints so you can get it to actually grip onto stuff.
The connection to Paean isn’t that great, but I guess it does get the job done.
Alternately, Paean also comes with multi-segmented arms and gripping claws, as they appeared in the same episode as the capture claw, “Auto Berserk”.
Unfortunately, the joints are super loose, it was a real chore to get them to stay up for a few seconds for this shot.
The connection for these arms is the same as the capture claw.
Fists are connected by default, to make Paean show accurate, replace his right hand with a barrel.
Hoist is the Autobot’s maintenance bot. A good-natured Autobot who enjoys his job of making sure the Autobots function at peak efficiency.
Paean comes with a goofy alien mask from the episode “Hoist goes to Hollywood”. The mask just simply clips onto the figure’s face.
Also included is a spare mask for MP-25 Tracks. I guess the only one missing from the “Hoist goes to Hollywood” cast is Warpath (Hoist, Tracks, Sunstreaker, Warpath and Powerglide were the guys who donned the alien masks for a scene).
While Trailbreaker has a force field projector on his back, Hoist comes with a full-spectrum multi-sensor for determining an object’s composition, density, tensile strength and energy properties.
There’s also a hammer accessory you can attach to his wrist. The hammer appeared in the episode “Desertion of the Dinobots”, you can see him using the hammer repairing parts of Slag after the Dinobots were blown up by Megatron.

Solar Tower model
Paean stands roughly 8 inches and weighs 272 Grams.
Diecast parts include:
-The front half of the feet
Alternate “G1 toy” head included, unlike previous XTB releases, there’s no need to unscrew anything, just slide the heads off the mushroom peg neck base to swap them around.
With X-Transbots Aegis (Trailbreaker)
Comparison with the Takara Masterpieces.
With Takara Masterpiece MP-35 Grapple
The architect and the engineer
I definitely prefer the Solar Tower model on the Takara.
Overall, a pretty impressive figure. I definitely prefer this over the Ocular Max Artifex and the Badcube Lorry, mainly because this is more show accurate compared to the others, which reuses the legs from their respective Trailbreakers. I also love the amount of extras, like how the tow pallet can expand and the bonus various crane arms included with this set.
