Transformers YOLOPARK AMK Pro G1 Optimus Prime
An outer baggie protects the box.
Diecast parts marked in blue on the back of the box.
A word of caution before attaching Prime’s backpack. The connection is VERY tight. Disconnecting it for return to the box is highly risky. I recommend not attaching it all the way in to make it easier to remove.
Strong, noble, wise. Optimus Prime embodies these traits and more in his role as the leader of the Autobots. Courageous as well as compassionate, Optimus cares for all forms of sentient life. As a warrior, Prime fights valiantly, vowing to never rest until he stops the tyranny of the evil Decepticons.
“Pro” Optimus Prime stands roughly 8 inches tall and weighs 286 Grams.
The hands feature some decent finger articulation.
Prime’s torso is on a ball joint, so it can tilt to the sides.
There’s also clearance enough for Prime to have an ab crunch thanks to the same ball joint.
To lift up his legs, you’ll need to lift up his skirt plates first.
To stand Prime properly, these sections of the knees have to bend inwards.
When attaching the “gas tanks” on Prime’s legs, this should be the orientation, with the “pointy” side facing downwards.
The figure has weathering on it. Personally, I really wish they went with a prestine look instead.
ELECTRONICS DEPT.
Yolopark managed to work in some LEDs into the figure, too bad I don’t have the batteries to work it.
The electronics require a CR927 type battery, according to the manual.
Prime’s rifle is also supposed to light up, but I’m not sure exactly how? Through magnetic connection with the electronics in Prime’s head?
In the 1984 cartoons, Prime was able to communicate with other Autobots via a little screen on his forearm. That gimmick is recreated with this figure.
Too bad the screen is blank though. Ah, well. There’s also a communicator panel on his right arm as well.
For weaponry, naturally Optimus Prime comes with his iconic Ion Blaster.
The blaster also features some weathering paint on it.
Prime also comes with his Energon Axe. To attach the axe, you’ll have to swap out the right hand.
For more play options, Yolopark even included Megatron in gun mode for Prime to pose with.
Lastly, Optimus comes with the Autobot Matrix of Leadership.
It’s a bit small and So Prime can’t fit all of his fingers in when he’s holding it, though.
Display base
Admittedly, the display base is a bit weird. They made it too tall? Unless you bend it at two points, the stand looks really awkward.
I guess you’re supposed to only grab his backpack, not his waist to make him quake-proof?
At least you can recreate this iconic pose from the 1986 movie with the display base.
Overall, a pretty good release. I love the paint finish here and it almost looks like Prime stepped out of the screen. It’s really eye-catching. The joints are solid, the proportions are decent enough, plus the use of diecast is a really nice touch of class for a “model kit”. I do wish they didn’t apply weathering on the figure but I guess that’s a matter of personal preference.
I guess the only downside is the type of batteries it uses. I can’t seem to find any store selling it nearby. Sigh…
I should probably hunt down the Pro Megatron to pair up with Optimus.
