UnknownZ Camp Big Falcon

The box is somewhat big, spanning roughly 13.5 x 9 x 9.25 inches in dimension.

The packaging top is a bit hard to pop open due to the design of the flap. I just decided it would be easier to open the thing from underneath.

The set comes practically good to go. You just need to attach the Falcon head tower and pop in batteries. The set requires 4x LR44 batteries to light up the interior. Batteries NOT included.

Be mindful when attaching the base of the Falcon neck to the slot. It’s a bit hard to push in and even harder to pull out when returning to the box.

Camp Big Falcon

Voltes V’s secret base (secret for the first episode anyway, lol). The Camp Big Falcon was secretly constructed to house Earth’s primary defense combat machine against the coming Boazanian invasion, Voltes V.

Fully assembled, the playset spans roughly 12 x 8 x 11.5 inches in dimension.

A bit of a downer here, the bay doors don’t close all the way. There’s a visible gap in the middle. I tried everything and it just won’t close up.

Also, a minor quibble, the numbering background color on the walls is supposed to be blue, as seen in the Anime, not black. Ah well…

The turret cannons can be rotated. Too bad they don’t feature LED light up gimmicks.

Open the base doors!

The set can generally accommodate the recently released Bandai SMP model kit Voltes V as well as the Action Toys Mini Action Voltes and Mini Deformed Voltes figures.

It’s not a perfect fit though, as you can see the Volt Lander isn’t parked properly on its launch platform due to the lack of width.

LIGHTING GIMMICK
The set features LED gimmicks for when you open up the launch bay doors and reveal the Volt Machines.

As previously mentioned, the set requires 4x LR44/ LR1154 type button batteries to operate. Batteries NOT included.

Place the batteries facing this way.

To activate, just push down on the switch on the bottom side of the base.

Switch on!!

Switching on the lights really improves the overall impression of this playset by a lot!

With the room lights off.

With Mini Action Voltes V from the ACG-HK 2024 convention.

Overall, not too shabby. I’m a sucker for playsets and while I’m not entirely certain how “licensed” this item is, it sure does compliment the SMP Voltes V kits and Mini Action Voltes V figures very nicely. The light up feature really goes a long way to making this stand out. I just wish the bay doors close up flush, but it’s not a dealbreaker since we’ll all probably display the playset with the doors opened and Volt Machines parked anyways.

I really hope they make more bases, like for Daimos, Grendizer and the rest of the 70’s Super Robots.
