Transformers Dramatic Capture Series – Nemesis Bridge

The box is pretty huge. I was really surprised at how big they made it for this set. It spans roughly 14 x 16 x 4 inches in dimension.

Megatron
Soundwave
Shockwave

Megatron

Ruthless leader of the Decepticons. Megatron believes that he can unite the universe under one rule – his! Powerful and nearly unstoppable as a warrior, Megatron’s ambition knows no bounds. Megatron craves power more than anything else and he won’t stop until he gets it!

The figure is a redeco of the Earthrise Megatron, this time done in silver deco to match the G1 toy.

I actually decided to get this set in the hopes that Megatron’s parts won’t turn yellow too soon unlike the original Earthrise counterpart.

Thankfully, Takara did this figure’s deco better. No silly “weathering” deco on this guy.

As usual, Megatron comes with his iconic Fusion Cannon.

Similar to the Siege/ Earthrise designs, he also comes with a shield/ melee weapon of sorts, which forms his tank cannon in his alt mode.

Interestingly, all the silver deco doesn’t really look right for the tank mode. For me anyway.

Megatron comes with a throne accessory, which in this case is meant to be the captain’s chair for the Nemesis warship.

Available ports for storing weapons and accessories at the back of the throne.

It’s literally the same throne we got with Studio Series 86 Coronation Starscream.

Megatron isn’t quite sitting in the chair though, due to his enormous backpack.

Thankfully, it’s not too obvious when viewed from the front.

Soundwave

While officially functioning only as a “communications officer” for the Decepticon army, Soundwave is also a spy master and he has managed to blackmail his way into the upper echelons of Decepticon hierarchy. That, plus his loyalty to Megatron, have earned him rank almost equal to Starscream or Shockwave. Cunning and tactical. Soundwave always has his team of “cassette troops” to help accomplish any mission Megatron commands.

The figure is a slight redeco of the Netflix version of Soundwave.

As usual, Soundwave comes with his iconic Concussion Blaster rifle and shoulder cannon.

As a leftover from the Siege design, Soundwave’s forearms feature flip-out guns that you can deploy.

Same as with the Netflix figure, Soundwave comes with his Charge Blaster from the Siege line.

The blaster can be used to simulate Megatron’s back cannon too, if you find the melee weapon accessory too cumbersome to equip.

Soundwave’s weapons can all be plugged into the backside of his alt mode.

“Laserbeak, eject.”

Takara Tomy also included soundwave’s faithful pet, Laserbeak with this set.

Shockwave

The Decepticon’s Military Operations Commander, Shockwave uses cold, unyielding logic to formulate plans to defeat the Autobots. He views emotion as a weakness that must be removed, be it present in Megatron or in himself.

The figure is a redeco of the Leader Class Siege figure minus the armor components.

I really, really love the slightly brighter deco on this guy compared to the original Siege release.

Shockwave relies on his left arm-mounted Laser Cannon to blast pesky Autobots into oblivion.

Sadly, Shockwave doesn’t come with anything in terms of accessories from this set. Illogical!!

I guess you can place him on the throne instead of Megatron for variety?

While seemingly loyal to Megatron in the cartoons, in the comics, Shockwave actually actively plans to overthrow his leader one day and take over full control of the Decepticons with his own dreams of changing the universe in his image. It is, after all, the logical choice.

Spaceship mode

Same as before, the “spaceship mode” is a bit of a cheat to get pass gun laws in the US. Thankfully, you can simply flip over Shockwave to recreate his G1 “flying cannon” look.

The full pack.

Yeah, I know it’s an odd choice to include Shockwave in the Nemesis scene, as he was never ACTUALLY ON the Nemesis, but I guess I’d rather have Shockwave in this set, as opposed to yet another Starscream.

Overall, a pretty cool set. While everything in this set are indeed redecoes of semi-recently released figures, I love the new decos Takara Tomy decided to go with, especially for Shockwave and Megatron. The price for the set is also not too shabby either, especially when compared to secondary prices for the Netflix Soundwave alone.

I do, however, really, really hope the plastics on Megatron and Soundwave don’t prematurely yellow this time around. The Earthrise versions yellowed insanely fast and it would be a real shame to go through that again with this set.
