G.i. Joe Classified # 165 Snake Eyes (version 4)

Generally regarded as the most dangerous G.i. Joe member, Snake Eyes’ unparalleled skill as a trained ninja of the Arashikage Clan has garnered him respect amongst friends and foes.

This figure is based on the version 4 figure of Snake Eyes from the vintage 3.75” line. This outfit is what he also wore during the DIC era G.i. Joe cartoons when he was a part of Ninja Force, working alongside a reformed Storm Shadow.

Snake Eyes comes with a pair of twin swords that can be sheathed on his back.

His gauntlets feature the words “Lighting Spirit” and “Wind Spirit”.

Snake Eyes comes with a submachine gun that comes with a silencer.

The SMG can be holstered on his left thigh. It’s a bit awkward to do, due to the open side of the holster, but it does the job of holding the weapon in place decently enough.

His right thigh features some non-removable kunai throwing blades.

Man, it’s too bad Snake Eyes doesn’t feature any Arashikage markings on this outfit for some reason.

I really, really love how Snake Eyes’ weapons are painted with a touch of red, to homage the classic toy. The red and blues blend really well to bring out this figure’s cool aesthetics.

Oh yeah, lastly, he comes with a grappling hook with rope. I really didn’t feel like unfurling the rope, so it stays as is. In the vintage line, this accessory came with a huge spring-loaded launcher. I’m actually glad no one thought to do this here.

This figure is best paired with the Amazon Exclusive #14 “Arctic” Storm Shadow (aka “Good Guy” Storm Shadow from the DIC era cartoons).

Overall, I love it! This version of Snake Eyes is one of my favorites, as the blue colors really made him stand out better compared to the all-black outfit. I also love the “red-colored weapons” motif they gave this set as a homage to the classic toy. I would’ve loved to pair him up with Amazon Exclusive “good guy” Storm Shadow for some cool pics, but I can’t remember which box I put the latter in. Lol.. I guess it’ll show up some day.

On the downside, it’s a shame the design team forgot to add any Arashikage markings to the figure. I wonder if this was intentional, or just an oversight? At least they didn’t ruin this release by including some silly-looking, oversized launcher accessory.

Hasbro’s oddball internal codename for pre-orders for this version of Snake Eyes is “Chief Wiggum”, from the Police Chief from the Simpsons.
