Max Factory’s Bio Fighter Collection featuring The Guyver Unit 01.

Box – in a strange twist, Max Factory decided to release the Guyver 01 (the main hero) as the fifth figure in the line. 🙂

Comes with everything shown.

Story
The Guyver is an experimental relic left behind by an ancient alien civilization. An organization called chronos has been developing human bio weapons, recovers 3 Guyver units from an excavation site. The units are stolen by one of Chronos’ own agents, unfortunately the heist goes wrong and the one of the units lands in the hands of young high school student Sho Fukamachi.

Chronos send out their bio weapons called Zoanoids after the Guyver in an attempt to discover the secrets behind the Guyver armor.

Guyver’s weapons include (taken from Wikipedia)

Vibration Globe – two orbs at the Guyver’s mouth that produce highly destructive sound waves known as the “Sonic Buster”.

The Mega-Smasher – Two high-power particle cannons contained beneath the Guyver’s chest armor.

Head Beam – A multi-directional laser mounted just above the control metal on the Guyver’s head. Lisker in the 2005 series says it utilizes excess body heat.

High Frequency Swords – blades that extend from the Guyver’s forearms. These blades vibrate at an extremely high frequency allowing them to cut through almost any material with ease. Also known as Sonic Swords.

Gravity Control Orb/Controller – The purpose of the gravity Controller is to siphon gravitational energy from a higher dimension. Two main uses include giving the Guyver the ability to fly and to unleash destructive gravity waves in the form of a directed “Gravity Cannon” also known as the “Pressure Cannon” – It could also be used to block attacks like a small temporary shield.

A few clips of the Guyver in action (Warning! Heavy animated violence and combat).

The clips are taken from the original 1980’s OAV, (I still like it over the newer series that aired in 2006 ).

Activation of the Guyver!

The Guyver is connected to its host via the growths on the host’s back. When not in use, the Guyver remains in a “sub-dimension” of sorts. Summoned at will when needed. The activation of the Guyver will produce a shockwave that damages anything in the close vicinity of the host.

Guyver One versus Guyver Two

Chronos is eventually able to recover one of the lost Guyver units (albeit damaged) and equips it on one of their own agents, Oswald Risker. Risker manages to activate the Guyver 2’s high frequency swords (something the Guyver 1 has yet to do at this point). The Guyver 2 unit then malfunctions before it can deliver the killing blow to Guyver 1.

Still one of the coolest Anime heroes (hehe, it’s actually the first violent cartoon I ever watched. ).

Funfact: Max Factory later released a Guyver 1.5 which featured an extra head partially revealing Sho Fukamachi’s face and has an extra hand holding the removed part of the faceplate.
