Super Robot Chogokin Grendizer Kurogane Finish
Ahh Grendizer…. there’s always been something about this character that I’ve always loved, more than most Super Robots. Maybe it was the action? The background music? The way most episodes never seemed quite boring compared to previous Super Robot cartoons? Whatever it was, this show was ahead of its time for me.
This is the third release of Grendizer for the Super Robot Chogokin line.
Hand beam!
Screw Crusher Punch!
I had to borrow the Screw Crusher effects parts from the previous release version for this, this set does not come with any effects parts (similar to the Tamashii Exclusive Grendizer with Spazer set, only the mass retail version without the Spazer came with effects parts).
Space Thunder!
The “ears”/horns can still be removed so you can swap around the parts from the previous mass retail version release for the Space Thunder effect.
Double Harken!
This set does not come with the Spazer. I also forgot to grab my Spazer set from storage (yeah, big oops there), so I couldn’t setup a proper pic with the Grendizer docked in. I’ll try to do an update later on when I get the time hehe.
Comparison with the mass retail release version SRC Grendizer (the one without the Spazer).
With the Kurogane Colors Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger.
The boxes compliment each other.
The original Mazinger Trilogy.
Rocket Punch Generation
Swords and Harkens
Alternate poses
-Diecast Parts include:
–Upper torso
–Lower legs
–Main joints
-The matte finish really makes this figure pop. It stands out compared next to the previous released versions. Goes very well with Kurogane colors Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger
The Bad
-All of the effects parts have been removed.
-Straight up repaint of a previous release with no improvements.
-It’s a Tamashii Web Exclusive, unlike Kurogane Mazinger and Great Mazinger which were made available in mass retail.
-No Spazer? Sigh….
-Remember the red line break on the back of SRC Grendizer’s lower legs? Yep, still there (a nice little red paint strip wouldn’t hurt, Bandai).
I guess the price? I still can’t wrap my head around why the price for this figure is higher than it should be. I mean, the matte color finish can’t be that expensive? We got the Maz and Great Maz versions for only a slightly higher SRP, here we don’t get any effects parts and the SRP of the figure is the same as the original figure WITH the Spazer.
Overall, I really enjoyed the colors of this figure a lot! It looks great next to Kurogane colors Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger. I think it’s a given that if you have those two figures, you have to get this one to complete the set. It’s a shame they decided to release this figure at an elevated price and not come without the Spazer, it’s definitely a turn off for some folks I imagine.
