Transformers Legacy: United Beast Wars Voyager Class Silverbolt
Silverbolt’s clubs are meant to be stowed away to in his wings to complete his look.
A Maximal with a fixed “black-and-white” view of the world, Silverbolt tends go into speeches about chivalry, nobility, idealized heroism and valor, usually to the point where the other Maximals tend to tone him out. Idealistic to a fault, Silverbolt’s only weakness is his love for the “evil” Predacon, Blackarachnia. He takes great pride and joy in being able to bring her over to the Maximal team.
I was surprised to find he figure is pretty detailed. Actually, the modernized Beast Wars line was one of the best things to happen in the War for Cybertron series, now that I think about it.
Just like with the vintage toy, his alt mode’s wing “missiles” work as clubs in his bot mode.
At the start of post-protoform life, Silverbolt was initially recruited by Megatron to join the Predacons, along with fellow Fuzor, Quickstrike. After being rescued and repaired by the Maximals, he joined up with the good guys instead.
As a Fuzor, Beast Silverbolt’s alt mode is a fusion of a wolf with the wings, forelegs, and tail of an eagle.
In the vintage figure, there was a spring-gimmick, where pulling on his tail would result in the wings flapping. Sadly, this version, like mostly everything now, lacks any spring-gimmick.
His wolf mouth can be opened.
Overall, pretty good. I actually decided to take my time with this guy, as he isn’t something most folks were gunning for, even back in the day. It finally went on sale at a local shop and I decided to pull the trigger on it, more or less completing the main Maximals team.
Of course, no sooner than had I completed to the purchase, I read about Hasbro releasing Predacon Fuzor Quickstrike in the next wave. Sigh.. I guess the line isn’t quite done yet.
