G.i. Joe Classified #131 Storm Shadow

Formerly aligned with Cobra, even serving as Cobra Commander’s bodyguard, Storm Shadow has officially renounced his path of vengeance for the murder of his uncle and mentor. After switching sides, Tommy Arashikage now works alongside the forces of G.i. Joe to stop Cobra.
The figure’s design loosely resembles Storm Shadow’s “good guy” appearance when he switched sides back in the 1988 release of the vintage toyline. That look would’ve appeared in proposed Season 3 of the Sunbow G.i. Joe cartoons if the series had continued, instead it went onto become the DIC series relaunch that changed everything.

I can’t say I’m a fan of the strangely large looking belt and skirts they did for this figure.
Storm Shadow comes with his compound bow. Unfortunately, for some reason, it doesn’t come with arrow, unlike other Joe Classified figures.

The bow can be stowed away on his backpack, along with the climbing claws.
It really is a huge miss for Storm Shadow not to come with any arrows for his bow.
Speaking of his backpack, I really liked the cherry red backpack the vintage toy had. I was really hoping Hasbro would use the same colors here. Heh, oh, well…
Ninja claws
Perfect as weapons or for wall-climbing.
Last but not least, Storm Shadow comes with his twin Katanas. Both are sheathed in scabbards on his right hip.

If all else fails, thanks to these proper Kung Fu hands, Storm Shadow becomes the weapon!

Overall, not bad, but not quite great. It’s a shame the design team didn’t go all in with the vintage toy look for this figure. The addition of the bulky skirt and belt just ruins the aesthetics of what should have been an overall cool-looking figure. Still, it is considered to be a close enough resemblance for Storm Shadow’s original “good guy” uniform in the Sunbow cartoon ads that it probably is still worth picking up.
I really love this shot of the figure from the promo images.
Hasbro had previously used the oddball codename “Bamm Bamm” for G.i. Joe Classified #131 Storm Shadow pre-orders.
