Marvel Legends Squadron Supreme Nighthawk & Blur

Nighthawk

Kyle Richmond is an elected United States congressman representing Washington D.C.. Using his vast personal resources, he fights crime as the vigilante known as Nighthawk. While usually opting to operate solo, Nighthawk from time-to-time works with the Squadron Supreme of America to protect America’s interests.

It’s later revealed that Nighthawk (in this incarnation) is actually a simulacrum created by the demon Mephisto to be his own puppet heroes as the Avengers were erased from existence during the “Heroes Reborn” Avengers comic arc.

In case folks missed it, Nighthawk is the Marvel analog for DC Comic’s Batman.

In the Heroes Reborn storyline, Nighthawk’s Rogues Gallery is mostly comprised of Spider-man’s villains. With the Goblin as his “Joker” level nemesis. He even dates the Black Cat and temporarily bonds with the Venom Symbiote.

The set offers three Hawkarangs and alternate “gripping hands” for Nighthawk. His Hawkarangs are made from Adamantium-level steel.

Blur

Stanley Stewart is a computer programmer working in Washington D.C. As his alter ego, the Blur, Stanley works alongside the Squadron Supreme of America using his super speed. He also seems to have a very loose grip on reality. As his mind moves so fast, he has keep himself distracted often.

The Blur was originally called the Whizzer in Marvel Comics. He is the analog to DC Comic’s the Flash.

Similar to the rest of the Squadron Supreme of America, the Blur is a simulacrum created by the demon Mephisto in order to have his own team of supers should the Avengers ever resurface.

Heh, gotta love that cocky smirk they gave this guy.

The set doesn’t come with much for Blur, just spare hands.

Too bad his toes aren’t jointed. They could’ve really helped with this running pose. While it is possible to pose him like this unassisted, it won’t stay standing for long.

In the Heroes Reborn storyline, Stanley is actually married to Mary Jane Watson (who seems to be trapped in hell?).

“Shut up, Flash!” (lol.. try to check out Undeadhumor’s Youtube channel for the gag).

The Squadron Supreme of America.

Doctor Spectrum is probably the worst figure in the lineup, they really shouldn’t have reused the old Bucky Cap body type for this guy. He seems so short next to the others.

In the tie-in “Siege Society”, we see more JLA analog characters such as Amphibian (Aquaman), Blue Eagle (Hawkman), Golden Archer (Green Arrow) and Arcanna (Zatanna). Since they never appear in the main “Heroes Reborn” books, the odds of them getting Marvel Legends figures are slim to none.

The “Big Three”.

Overall, the set is pretty OK. Not really the best bang for the buck since it comes with so little in terms of accessories. It’s mostly just for completing the Marvel Comic’s version of the main Justice League characters.

I held off getting this set when it first came out since it seemed pretty likely that it would go on clearance sale and sure enough, it did.

Like the previous two-pack with Hyperion and Doctor Spectrum, this set was released as a Fan Channel exclusive.
