Marvel Legends Venom 3-pack (Venom, Riot, Agony)

Venom

Eddie Brock was once a photographer working for the Daily Bugle like Peter Parker. Disgraced after falsely filing an erroneous expose because of Spider-man, Brock develops a deep hatred for the hero. Gaining powers after coming into contact with the mysterious alien symbiote that was once bonded to Spider-man, the duo become the murderous villain, Venom!

The body is a reuse of the Animated Venom (which itself is a reuse of the Omega Red buck), but with an all-new Venom head sculpt.

Gotta love that crazy long tongue on this guy.

In the “Venom: Lethal Protector” storyline, Venom is captured and experimented on in order to produce more offspring from its symbiote by the Life Foundation. The situation forces Venom to work with Spider-man to stop them.

The set comes with an alternate “half revealed ” Eddie Brock equipped by default.

Agony

Leslie Gesneria is a mercenary working for the Life Foundation. She bonds with the Agony symbiote alongside her teammates in order to serve as protectors for the foundation’s expensive survivalist facility.

The figure uses the new Shriek female buck. Complete with pinless double-jointed elbows.

Unique to Agony’s symbiote is the ability to spew acid on her victims.

She doesn’t have any real accessories apart from the extra hands.

In the “Separation Anxiety” storyline, Agony is the first symbiote of the group to be murdered, setting off the events where the Life Foundation team are hunting down Venom as their main suspect in the murder.

Riot

Life Foundation Mercenary Trevor Cole is the original host of Riot from the “Lethal Protector” and “Separation Anxiety” sags. There would be three other hosts following Cole’s death to take on the mantle of “Riot” and merge with the symbiote.

The figure is a reuse of the Monster Venom body.

Curiously, Riot in the comics is supposed to be gray, they made him blue here…?

While it is cool to see him big, he wasn’t supposed to be this big! At most, he should only be “regular” Venom-sized, not “Monster Venom” big.

His only accessory is a bladed hand.

The Life Foundation symbiotes from “Venom: Lethal Protector!”

In order to protect their future utopian society project, the Life Foundation captured Venom and forced the symbiote to spawn five more offspring to serve as its elite security force. Collectively called “The Five Symbiotes”, the team made its first appearance in the “Venom: Lethal Protector” miniseries back in 1995, which would then be followed up by “Venom Separation Anxiety”, featuring a murder mystery, where each of the Five Symbiotes were being murdered one by one by an unknown assailant.

Left to Right:
Agony
Phage (from 2021’s BAF Venompool wave)
Riot
Scream (from 2019’s Monster Venom wave)
Lasher (from 2018’s BAF Lizard wave)

Respective galleries to the first three figures released:

Since it’s pretty obvious Hasbro’s going for a “Power Rangers” vibe by making Riot blue instead of gray, I may as well throw in Carnage to be the “red leader” figure.

Overall, it’s a pretty good set. Granted it’s not a must have if you didn’t get Phage, Scream and Lasher from the earlier waves. Personally, I really enjoyed closing the book on completing this group, as it gives a certain sense of accomplishment. While I would’ve preferred if they included more accessories and maybe give Riot a correct “gray” color scheme, the whole team still comes together quite nicely.

The Venom in this set is probably the best Venom yet for me, he’s just the right size with the Omega Red buck. For head sculpts though I think I prefer the Venom head from the “Monster Venom” wave. That plus this one’s body is probably how I’ll go about for a Venom to display.

I can’t believe it took us 4 years (starting with Lasher) to complete the Life Foundation symbiote crew…

This 3-pack was released as an Amazon Exclusive.
